Fatawu’s Repentance

Six years ago, Fatawu was a 19-year-old man in Bole, Ghana, searching for a way to support himself and pay for his education. His friend told him about a sorcerer who would help get the money he so desperately wanted. They went together to visit a local sorcerer who performed black magic over a padlock, a needle, and some alcohol.

The two friends then turned to Facebook to find wealthy victims to scam. They used the padlock as a charm to lock the minds of the people who fell into their trap, and the needle as a charm for spiritual torment until their victims gave into their requests.

The two friends then turned to Facebook to find wealthy victims to scam. They used the padlock as a charm to lock the minds of the people who fell into their trap, and the needle as a charm for spiritual torment until their victims gave into their requests.

The scam proved lucrative, but instead of using the money for his education, Fatawu burned through the cash on women, nightclubs, and expensive clothing and objects. Anything he wanted, he could buy.

Six years later, his mother Fatima attended a service at the Bole Church. She was convicted by the Holy Spirit and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior after hearing the word of God through the audio bible. Knowing her son’s dishonest ways, she invited him to come to church with her in the hopes that he would also accept Christ and change his way of living.

When Fatima took Fatawu to church, he confessed to Obed and the team what he and his friend had been doing for the past six years. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and promised not to go back to his previous life. After his conversion, he realized that those things he did with his friend were evil acts and he asked Obed and his team to destroy the padlock and needle charms. Then he invited his friend to come to church with him

When his friend came, he disagreed with Fatawu’s repentance, refused to give his life to Christ, and left.

Unfortunately, he had an accident on his way to the night club in Serupe, only a ten minute drive from Bole. Although Fatawu’s friend did not die in the accident, he sustained severe injuries.

Fatawu together with Obed and his team are still fighting for the young man’s repentance through prayers.

Please join us in praying for Fatawu and his mother Fatima, that they will continue to grow in their new found faith and also love the things of God.

Pray also for Fatawu’s friend, that he would recover from his injuries and that the Holy Spirit would touch his heart and he would surrender his life to Christ Jesus.
