Letter from Kwame, May 26, 2014
Ebenezer and I (Kwame) are doing well and Paul and Heartwill are back in Accra. Ebenezer is currently visiting and preparing villages for training. Paul and Heartwill are making sure the Bibles are in good condition, and helping villagers repent and come together and enjoy the Lord. They (Paul and Heartwill) are visiting village after village, whereas we are bringing various villages together for training.
Looking at the difficulties we encountered at Half Assini, regarding the bringing the villagers from various villages together for training, it would always be better to find a venue for training in place and also unite a few persons of peace together before we travel to such places to train. At Half Assini, not only were the people not really ready for training, but there was no unity among them. Some of them are new Christians and others are still struggling with putting aside idolatry and being full Christians therefore there is the need for them to meet regularly to pray for themselves and their families.
These people also have so much respect for those elders and church elders in their community, and we have discussed the strategy of bringing church elders from various villages together as one body. I also want you to know that in Ghana the culture demands and finds it respectful if we can use an elderly person in uniting the church elders from various villages. We can also not separate the gathering from the chief’s permission. We are so far blessed by some chiefs and some have even offered us a place to gather.
Unity among our dear brothers and sisters as one family loving each other is necessary before we can even think of training them. After training them, they still have to work together because a majority are new converts, and even though they sometimes claim to belong to a particular church, they don’t attend church regularly.
Last Easter was great as we went to Tumiamayenko and showed the Jesus movie. We need more talking Bibles but we are also focused on creating more scripture learning groups before adding more Bibles. The number of people using talking Bibles will increase. For example if we can get the five villages speaking the same language to come together as one group and use one talking Bible, then this means that we can have about 90 groups of various villages, and this will increase the number of people. For now, we need Asante, Dangme, Akuapim, this should be in the ratio of 6:2:2. Please let us know what you think about this strategy. God bless you Dad.
