When a soul is won, heaven rejoices! December 25th, 2022 was one of the happiest Christmases Issah and Fati Gyani have ever celebrated.
Issah and Fati Gyani
Issah and Fati Gyani are a missionary couple that have partnered with Christian Outreach Fellowship (COF) since March 2017. They serve among the Fufulde people group in Buipe and its surrounding area in the Savannah Region of Northern Ghana. They are happily married with 4 children, and their ministry focus is in using formal education to evangelize the Fulfulde people.
Saidu is a Fulani herdsman from a village called Gariibu, located in the Savannah Region of Ghana. Saidu, along with his Fulani tribesmen, migrated from Niger with their sheikh to settle in Ghana. The entire tribe serves the sheikh not only as their leader, but also worships him as their god.
Issah and Fati Gyani have been ministering and sharing the word of God with Saidu for months. He seemed interested in knowing more about God, but was hesitant to fully commit to accepting Jesus Christ as his Saviour. He was scared of the potential persecution from the rest of his family and his tribe. Finally, he promised to go to church with the missionary couple when he had time.
A Leap of Faith
On Christmas day, Saidu made a choice that could change his life forever. For the first time, he took a bold step and attended the church service with Issah and Fati Gyani and their adopted son, Haruna.
Even though openly professing to be a Christian will be very difficult for him due to the large chance that he will be persecuted by his people, it is our prayer that Saidu will continue attending church, absorb the teachings of the Gyanis, and make the choice to surrender his life to Christ. With the imminent threat of persecution, Saidu would appreciate prayers that he might be able to hold to Christ without looking back.
As it turns out, Saidu’s sister is already a Christian. She currently lives in France with her husband, but Saidu gave the Gyanis her contact information so they could communicate with her. There’s a hope that she will be able to share her own faith with her brother and encourage him in his journey.
The Gyanis are planning to follow up with Saidu and his family. They will organize a home Sunday service for Saidu and his wife and kids where the Gyanis will visit, pray, and fellowship with them in their own home. By doing this, they hope to encourage the rest of Saidu’s family to come to know Christ and take the bold step in accepting Jesus into their hearts and lives.
Pray for Saidu and His Family
Please keep this dear family in your prayers as God continues to cultivate the seeds that have been planted in their hearts. Pray as well for Issah and Fati Gyani, that God would grant them the wisdom to know how best to serve and love Saidu and his family as well as the rest of the Fulfulde people.
