Madam Mariama Fusieni is a hairstylist who lives in Bole, Ghana, with her family. Mariama attended the church in Bole once in awhile, but had not become a Christian. This is her testimony of how God brought her from sorcery to salvation.
Driven to Sorcery
A few weeks ago, her hair styling business started experiencing some worrying setbacks. She confided in a friend and told her that the business was not growing as much as she had expected. When her friend heard this, she introduced Mariama to a sorcerer who gave Mariama charms, coins, and peculiar directions to follow to get her business back on track.
A few days went by. Mariama followed the directions precisely, including one such instruction to keep the special coins the sorcerer gave her in her cash box. The sorcerer said that by doing so, the coins would physically increase the amount of her money in sales from the salon. Mariama, eager to increase her wealth, did as he said.
But strange things started happening to her and her business. Unfortunately, the coins that were supposed to increase her business made matters worse instead. She began to see a daily loss in income.
Desperate for Salvation
Mariama became so distressed that it began to affect her physical well-being. Eventually, she decided to go to Obed (a COF missionary at Bole) and his team for prayer. During the prayer session, the Holy Spirit revealed to Obed and his team all that had happened. When they asked Mariama about it, she confirmed it all to be true.
Obed and the team prayed over her and took the charms and coins from the sorcerer and burned them. After praying, they took Mariama back to her house and have continued to follow up with her. They visited her regularly to encourage her and share the word of God with her. After a period of regular visits, Mariama developed an interest in God, and so Obed and his team introduced her to an audio Bible so she could access the Bible more readily.
Now, Mariama is a dedicated member of the Bole church and has given her life to the Lord, placing her trust in Him rather than in charms and coins.
