Service Spotlight – Issa and Fati Gyani
Issa and Fati Gyani are a missionary couple in Ghana serving the people group of Fufulde in the Savannah Region of Northern Ghana. Years ago, they had a vision of using formal education to evangelize the Fufulde people, and in 2017 they partnered with Christian Outreach Fellowship (COF) and founded the Shalom Academy. The main focus of the school is for the Fulani children to have access to a more formal education, as well as nurture them in the knowledge of Jesus. Issa and Fati’s hope is that these children will come to know Jesus and the love that He has for them, and that they might become Christians and leaders in their community as they grow.
In addition to the school, Fati has a radio airtime opportunity that she uses as a medium to reach the Fulanis in the community. The couple also hope to open a story telling center in conjunction with the school that will be open to the community. The goal of this center would be to attract more people in Fulani and other tribes to come and hear the words of Jesus and to become believers and disciples as well.
The Shalom Academy is experiencing the grace of God as over 40 Fulani children are now attending the school, and more Fulani parents have promised to enroll their children in the academy next year.
Not everybody is happy with their ministry, however. Many people in the surrounding villages are against their ministry, and the Muslim clerics especially make an effort to discourage people from repenting and accepting Jesus. For many people, becoming a Christian means turning away from their village and sometimes even their families. Issa and Fati, however, continuously strive to do the work that God has called them to by bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Fufulde people group.
Pray for Issa and Fati
If you would take a moment, please pray for this couple as they continue to walk in faith, serving God and those around them with open hearts. Pray that the Spirit of God would sustain and protect them, and that the seeds that they are planting in the students of Shalom Academy would grow and produce a great harvest for the Kingdom of God.
