Letter from Otniel Salvador Hernandez, Director of La Cosecha in Mexico. Special thanks to Jean Schonberg for translating this letter from Spanish to English.
Hello brothers, we greet you with much affection, hoping that you and your families are well.
Spring is here and the temperatures have risen a lot. It is good to enjoy a hot climate, but along with it comes the dry season and the lack of water.
Thanks to God we have had young men that have moved forward in their lives. God has given them a new birth and because of it a total change in their form of living and thinking. Some have returned to their homes and God has restored their marriages or the relationship with their children. Others have found work and are now productive persons. We are happy with them. Nevertheless, there are others who fall back and by the grace of God return again to be restored. We also rejoice to turn them again onto the correct path.
In the same way I am thankful to God for all he has done in my family. My oldest daughter, Adaia, turned 15 on the 18th of April and it is a joy to us to see our children grow physically as well as spiritually. God gave me a great gift in giving me a wife and 2 children. I never thought I would have this blessing since 21 years ago I was a man without God, given to alcohol and drugs, without a future or any hope. I only thought that I would die that way without imagining that God had other plans for me, saving me and bringing me into His service.
My wife and I got married a little older. I was 36 and she was 33. Because of this she had the threat of miscarriage with our two children and those were very difficult times but we always trusted in the love and mercy of God. And praise God, here they are, healthy and strong! My daughter Adaia finished middle school this year and for various years has studied violin which she likes very much.
So much that she wants to have the opportunity to study it at an advanced level. She is a very obedient and intelligent girl and she and Isai now help in the worship services of the church. We want to celebrate her 15 years with a small dinner with family and friends. I am so thankful to God for his great faithfulness.
In the same way we see the children of “La Cosecha” growing and it makes our hearts happy to see them well, happy and safe. Carolina is a young woman who has embraced them with love and the children know that she loves them very much. Debora, the oldest girl, turned 9 on the 9th of April. We celebrated her birthday with the children of the Sunday School since she has made friends with the children who come to the church. We give thanks to God for another year of her life.
We continue with the improvements to the residences. This month we dedicated ourselves to fixing up the residence of “La Perla”. It is the house we use to receive visitors.
The bathrooms for visitors in “Etla” are now almost finished. The roof is on and the toilets are installed as well as the sinks. Now we are just lacking a few details and putting on the doors. As we told you last month, the hens began to lay eggs. These last few weeks they have laid 420 eggs a week so we have begun to sell fresh eggs daily. We thank the brothers who generously provided for the purchase of these hens.
We love you in the love of Christ. May God bless you.
